BOARD MEMBERS
Nzigu Simon a Founder and CEO at Hope for Orphans and Rural development (HORD) holds a bachelors’ degree in social work and social administration (SWSA) attained from Kampala University (KU) and a Diploma in Computer science attained from Kyambogo University Kampala (KYU). He has attended some performance improvement courses in areas such as; Monitoring and evaluation, institutional Development and team building.
He has been an essential part of the team of researchers working with Regional Health Integration to Enhance Services in Eastern Uganda (USAID’s RHITES-EC), Plan International Uganda (Kamuli district Unit office), Mid-term Evaluation of African Network for Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect child policy awareness creation project, the work was commissioned by ANPPCAN Uganda Chapter, Volunteered in design of Local Economic Development Program using a Participatory Appraisal of Competitive Advantage (PACA) tool. The program was implemented by Family Development Support Initiative (FADSI) in Uganda. During this period he has been able to execute a number of research assignments that have involved in-depth collection, analysis and reporting of data collected from different information sources including Local Governments (both rural and urban) and civil society agencies. His work experience coupled with his educational attainments has enabled him attain a strong understanding and appreciation of the different research methodologies and managed to form and run Hope for orphans and Rural Development (HORD) a Community Based Organization working for empowerment of the vulnerable community in Uganda’s rural Kamuli district for the last twelve years.
A strong advocate for rights of children, He has over 5 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities and has worked with organizations in Uganda that provide support for vulnerable children.
Monika Skiba is a social entrepreneur, lecturer and traveler. She has been involved from the very beginning with the School and hostel-shelter project for orphan and abandoned children in Uganda. Together with HORD she takes action to support orphan children, especially girls, who are exposed to hunger, kidnapping, human trafficking and sexual abuse.
Monika has few degrees but the best is the life degree, over 20 years of work experience with over 7 years of study and work abroad in (Ireland, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Germany, Qatar, Uganda, China) – active leadership within Stagiaires Executive Board at the European Commission and European Parliament in Luxembourg, 4 years of active involvement in management board of AIESEC Krakow in Poland and half a year in Germany acting as AIESEC Cultural Envoy and Intercultural Trainer. She runs several courses on the international project and programme management, team building, fundrising, inter-cultural communication, crisis management, human resource management and corporate social responsibility. She is social innovator, actively involved in social and voluntary activities. Native Polish, fluent English and enough good German to get around. She is interested in new technologies and she loves travelling. Monika likes skiing, horse-riding and sailing. She is ski-instructor and sailing instructor. She is member of the Polish Yachting Association and Royal Yacht Association in the United Kingdom where she obtained her dinghy sailing instructor license. She belongs to the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society where she obtained the Tourist Organizer license.

Mukasa Suzan is the Board Secretary. She has experience in community development (worked on the campaign of Child Sacrifice in Uganda). Thanks to years’ experience in office administration and management Suzan knows Information and Systems Management as well as Library and Records Management. She has an in-born passion for community development.
Namwase Penelope has Bachelor’s degrees in public administration and 5 years’ experience in administration, government, public service and currently a police detective working in the Uganda police force.
Mugoberezi Robinah has a Diploma in accounting and finance and over 20 years of experience in the field of finance management, accountancy, fundraising. She has 24 years’ experience working with charity organizations.
Karungi Gabula Olivia holds a diploma in nursing, nursing officer (Nursing), she has 20 years of experience in nursing and health promotion and is currently working as a senior nursing officer in kamuli district local government. Hold a certificate in counseling and guidance with a passion on Psycho social support to the vulnerable.
Olivia appreciates the opportunity to work with poor, marginalized women of the local community partners, providing support, advice and encouragement.
Kaluba Micheal has a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering. He works as a field and training associate with Open street map Uganda, volunteers with Humanitarian Open street map team (HOT). Volunteer editor with Wikimedia User group Uganda.
