Building Dreams, Creating Futures: A School for Tomorrow

Imagine a place where every child has the opportunity to learn, where every dream is nurtured and where the future is not a distant promise but a tangible reality. Our vision is to create a school that goes beyond bricks and mortar. We aim to construct an environment that fosters creativity, curiosity, and compassion; and can act like a family for the children, especially orphans, who may not have a family of their own.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We are moving forward with our school project. Thanks to the support of our donors, sponsors, and contributors of all types, local and international, every little step brings us closer to fulfilling our goal of building a better future for all pupils of the Hope for Orphans and Rural Development organisation (HORD). HORD provides hope for young women and men of different walks of life. Orphans who do not have anyone to take care of them or are from less fortunate families who barely make ends need.

We are moving forward but it is not an easy road, with plenty of challenges to be faced en-route.

We have come a long way. Years have passed since we started and grey hair is showing on some of us. 😊

The pictures on these pages show you some of the progress made so far to make the place more welcoming to our kids and community which gather around HORD.

Once upon a time a big tree nestled in the heart of our community, that echoed with laughter, dreams and the pursuit of knowledge. The tree was a place of gathering and learning, a place which children could call home and school at the same time. The teachers with the scant resources available, gave their all to educate the children the best they could. However, as the years went by, the hope began to crumble, and the classroom under the tree that once echoed with joy now whispered of the need for a fresh impetus.

HORD Signpost (at the beginning of the initiative -building school, 2014)

Our school place was in dire need of a new home. HORD searched for a more appropriate location and, thanks to our wonderful donors, we were able to secure the land and begin the building. With the help of local community, builders and engineers the building has been designed and the first part of the construction has been completed.

We have started in March 2023 . Thanks to big involvement of our different supporters we were able to raise the building to almost the final phase:

Many of our kids come from villages where they lost their parents or they were abandoned, being left on their own without any hope for a better future. Without the support of community volunteers and the HORD NGO they would not have any chance to lead a normal life. Many might not be able to survive without access to food, water and shelter.

HORD wants to bring the hope to them again. The proper place where they can study is one among many initiatives we undertake to help those in need.

The school currently has around 200 pupils (including 80 orphans – for whom HORD is proving education, welfare, care, food and shelter) who are educated here. The 120 children come from families with low income or families without any income. They pay a basic school fee which bring some funding directed towards the care of the orphans and vulnerable children, upkeep of the orphanage as well as caregiver salaries, and daily expenses of the children.

All lessons at the school are taught in English in an effort to ensure that all children passing through Stanford is comfortable with this international business language.

Due to the highly increased number of children from local community, HORD got that new building and need a proper sanitary facilities and toilets as in the new premise we do not have any.
