My time as a volunteer was an incredible experience. The opportunity to meet the culture especially also the rural areas, to meet the people and the kids, to see how education works in Uganda, to see daily lives. I liked the fact that the program was laid-back, affordable and flexible in terms of timing, scheduling, planning’s and work requirements. With all the people I was living with, I felt very comfortable, integrated and welcomed.
What I liked the most was to implant my working skills as a nurse into the Health Care Centre, in which I was working. The Colleagues were really a joy to work with and I was welcomed more than lovely each day and I liked also the fact that there was a lot of trust in terms of my working skills. It was very exciting for me to take part into this very local located Working place within a local profession team of Health Care People and all in all it made it all very worthwhile to spent my time there.
I met amazing interesting people and even I gained invaluable skills and knowledge for life and than can be applied towards my career in the future.
Uganda itself is a beautiful country with an unbelievable range of activities- it is impossible to become bored there.
Overall I recommend such a program and I know I will be back sometime; as well I might get more into such work in prospective time.
I am very glad that I had the chance to experience such time.
